Two more bears have been eliminated in Kamchatka

The forced shooting of two connecting rod bears was carried out by the Kamchatka state hunting inspectors. One bear was tracked for three days in the area of Tolmachev Lake in the Ust-Bolsheretsky district, the second was spotted near the village of Dolinovka in the Milkovsky district, the press service of the government of the Kamchatka Territory reports.

“Over the past weekend, the hunting inspectors of the region forcibly shot two individuals of a brown bear: one was seen earlier in the area of Tolmachev Lake in the Ust-Bolsheretsky district, the second came out to people near the village of Dolinovka in the Milkovsky district. Presumably, both bears were disturbed during hibernation by snowmobile enthusiasts. Dear residents of the region and guests of the peninsula! If possible, refrain from snowmobiling in areas where bears are likely to be present until sufficient snow cover is established. Disturbed predators are unable to forage in sufficient quantities in winter and pose a direct threat to the life and health of citizens. If you encounter a bear or its tracks, please let us know by calling 112,” said Evgeny Kravtsov, head of the Federal State Hunting Supervision Department of the Kamchatka Ministry of Forestry.

Since the beginning of the year, the Unified Regional Dispatch Service has received 13 reports of bears that have not gone into hibernation, which have come out to people, and 9 forced shootings have been carried out.

Recall, on behalf of the governor of Kamchatka, in the spring of 2025, an intensive survey of the territory around the Avacha agglomeration will be conducted — these are Yelizovo, Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky and Vilyuchinsk. If there are a large number of bears, work will be carried out with hunting users located in the lands adjacent to the settlements.
