Kamchatka Fishery Inspectors Apprehend Two Salmon Poachers

Fishery inspectors have detained two poachers operating on rivers in the Kamchatka Peninsula. On the Bolshaya Vorovskaya river, an individual was apprehended after using nets to illegally harvest 20 salmonids, including coho salmon, whitespotted char, and Dolly Varden char.

In a separate incident within the water protection zone of the Plotnikova river, located near the 87th kilometer of the Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky – Milkovo highway, authorities confiscated 22 kilograms of sockeye and chum salmon roe from another individual.

Neither of the individuals involved possessed the required harvesting permits. Both cases have been transferred to the police to determine whether to initiate criminal proceedings for the illegal extraction of biological resources. All fishing nets and salmon roe have been seized and placed in secure storage.
