JSC SiGMA, a prominent Russian entity, has underscored its commitment to environmental stewardship by actively participating in the nationwide ‘BoomBattle’ ecological campaign. This initiative forms a crucial part of Russia’s broader ‘Ecology’ National Project, aiming to cultivate a culture of responsible consumption and efficient waste management across the country, as announced by the company’s press service.
The company’s engagement involved a significant collection of waste paper, which is earmarked for the Ussuri Pulp and Paper Mill, a key industrial player in Russia’s Far East. This facility specializes in transforming secondary raw materials into essential products like packaging, sanitary, and office papers. By channeling waste into this recycling stream, each kilogram of paper contributed by SiGMA directly translates into saved trees and conserved planetary resources, illustrating a tangible step towards a circular economy.
Ivan Drozdov, General Director of JSC SiGMA, articulated the company’s profound dedication to these efforts. “Operating in Kamchatka, a region renowned for its pristine and unique natural landscapes, instills in us a profound sense of responsibility for environmental preservation,” Drozdov stated. He further emphasized, “For SiGMA, ecological initiatives are not isolated events but rather an integral and enduring component of our corporate philosophy and operational approach.”
The ‘BoomBattle’ campaign itself is orchestrated by the Autonomous Non-Profit Organization ‘National Priorities,’ enjoying robust backing from several key Russian government bodies, including the Ministries of Natural Resources, Education, Science and Higher Education, and Sport. This multi-ministerial support highlights the strategic importance placed on environmental awareness and action at a national level.
To date, the collective efforts under the ‘BoomBattle’ campaign have yielded an impressive collection of over 34.8 million kilograms of waste paper nationwide. This substantial achievement represents a concrete and measurable contribution to the conservation of Russia’s vast forests and delicate ecosystems, aligning the nation’s environmental agenda with global sustainability goals.
