A rodent bear has been eliminated in Kamchatka.

The connecting rod bear was eliminated in the area of the Avacha pass in Kamchatka, where several popular snowmobile routes have been laid. Most likely, the predator was disturbed by humans, the Ministry of Forestry and Hunting of the Kamchatka Territory reported.

“On Sunday, it became known from social networks about the release of a brown bear in the area of a Dry river. On Monday morning, an operational group of inspectors tracked down the beast and eliminated it. I would like to note that this is not a classic wobbly bear: he did not wake up on his own, most likely, he was disturbed by people. We ask all residents to inform 112 service when encountering a bear in winter,” said Vsevolod Voropanov, head of the Federal State Forest Control (Supervision) Department of the Kamchatka Territory Ministry of Forestry.

Kamchatka bears usually hibernate in mid-November. At the same time, in December 2024, a staggering bear attacked a man in Kamchatka. The man died.

Recall, on behalf of the governor of Kamchatka, in the spring of 2025, an intensive survey of the territory around the Avacha agglomeration will be conducted — these are Yelizovo, Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky and Vilyuchinsk. If there are a large number of bears, work will be carried out with hunting users located in the lands adjacent to the settlements.
