The ecologist called the former Kamchatka Minister of Ecology “to the barrier”

Alexey Kumarkov, Minister of Natural Resources and Ecology of the Kamchatka Territory, who recently left his post, said goodbye to his VKontakte subscribers (the page has already been deleted — Ed.). Many of them expressed their respect and gratitude for his work in their comments to his farewell post, but not all of them.

Thus, Kamchatka ecologist Anton Ulatov, who spent 23 years of his career in Kamchatka, spoke extremely negatively about the work of Alexei Kumarkov as a minister, as well as about the work of his mentors and predecessors.

“Over the course of 5 years, of which you, Alexey, were in the post of minister for 3 years, the Levtyrinvayam River practically DISAPPEARED AS A HYDROGRAPHIC UNIT, as ROCK (drainage channels) collapsed in uncultivated platinum mining areas, and the entire outflow of the Levtyrinvayam and Levy Levtyrinvayam rivers rushed into abandoned uncultivated mining operations extending into the river valley for >1.5 dozen kilometers. The scale of depletion and shallowing of the Levtyrinvayam River up to the complete drying of the riverbed with the transfer of water runoff into the stream. Olkhovy is a neighboring (8 km upstream) tributary of the Vyvenka River. It is said that the Levtyrinvayam River (the salmon river, which is average in size in the Vyvenka River basin with >23 hectares of Pacific salmon spawning grounds) has practically not flowed for 10 years over the past 20 years, or rather flowed, but past its channel. As a result, the salmon river ecosystem has been deeply degraded to this day,” Ulatov wrote.

Anton suggests Alexey Kumarkov to continue this discussion on any platform. The Tg channel and the website of the Kamchatka Fisherman are ready to become such a platform. It would really be interesting to know Alexey Anatolyevich’s opinion today about the situation in the Vyvenka River basin, because now he can speak more freely than before.
