Amateur fishermen in Kamchatka have had their quotas distributed for 2025

The Ministry of Fisheries of the Kamchatka Territory has approved a list of applicants who have been allocated quotas for catching whitefish and crabs for organizing recreational fishing for the next year.

«In total, for 2025, about 248 tons of aquatic biological resources were distributed among users, of which 76 tons — are Kamchatka crabs on the West Coast and almost 64 tons of snow crab on the East Coast of Kamchatka. It is also possible for firms which own fishing grounds to organize recreational fishing on their sites in respect of cod, pollock, halibut, greenling, navaga and sole. According to the voucher at the fishing site, residents can fish, including with crab traps and net fishing gear in relation to white fish», — said Pavel Buryak, assistant of the fisheries department of the Ministry of Fisheries of the Kamchatka Territory.

It should be noted that in 2025 it is planned to introduce restrictions on the fishing of Kamchatka crab in the Western Kamchatka subzone. The mining ban will be in effect from January 1 to September 15, 2025, which will preserve the species’ population and ensure sustainable use of resources. During this period, only fishing for research and control purposes is permitted.
