The Federation Council Committee on Agrarian and Food Policy and Environmental Management has come out in support of a draft law aimed at combating the illegal trafficking of red caviar. The document proposes to expand measures to prevent the export of poaching products on an industrial scale on passenger flights.
The co-author of the bill, Senator Boris Nevzorov, reports that the document provides for the extension of the experiment to limit the export of non-industrial caviar from Kamchatka until August 2027. Initially, it was assumed that the experiment would end this summer. In addition, it is planned to expand the geography of the restrictions to include the Khabarovsk Territory and Chukotka.
Boris Nevzorov notes that since November 1, 2022, an experiment has been conducted in the Kamchatka Territory prohibiting air passengers from transporting more than 10 kilograms of non-industrial caviar per flight. The main goal of the experiment is to stop the transportation of poached salmon caviar on an industrial scale. Information received from the Government of the Kamchatka Territory confirms that the experiment needs to be continued.
The senator also reports that the governor of the Khabarovsk Territory has asked parliamentarians to include all airports in the region in the experiment. In February, the State Duma supported the bill in the first reading.
