The valley of geysers in Kamchatka is being prepared for the tourist season
Preparations for the tourist season are underway in the Valley of Geysers in Kamchatka, Kamchatka.Today reports, citing a message from the Kronotsky Nature Reserve.
Several state inspectors and construction workers are currently stationed at the Valley of Geysers cordon in the Kronotsky Nature Reserve. The main task is to clear the snow near outbuildings and on trails and put the reception rooms in order.
When spring reigns on almost the entire peninsula, it is still very snowy in the valley of the Geysernaya River – snowdrifts reach a height of one and a half meters. It is necessary to put in order not only the territory of the cordon, but also the systems to ensure the full functioning of the cordon for the entire snowless season. Tourists mostly come to admire the Kamchatka natural pearl from July to September.
“Immediately upon arrival, we cleared the snow from the infrastructure, which is necessary for comfortable living and work of employees at the cordon. Builders are engaged in the repair and renovation of houses. We are clearing trails in the direction from the helipads to the visitor center and further to the main tourist trail. The height of the snow cover ranges from one meter to one and a half meters,” said Elena Subbotina, the district state inspector of the reserve.
The staff of the reserve has already begun to mount information displays on the tourist boardwalk leading to the floating gorge. In the near future, we plan to provide the inspection houses and the visitor center with water, fill the souvenir shop and generally create comfortable conditions for visitors to explore the protected nature.
