Kamchatka Inspectors Seize Over 400 Kilograms of Poached Salmon

During anti-poaching raids conducted over the past week, federal fishery officers apprehended 51 individuals for violating fishing regulations on the waterways of the Kamchatka Peninsula. Authorities are currently reviewing four of these cases for potential criminal prosecution.

Enforcement personnel confiscated 435 kilograms of illegally harvested salmon – including 22 kilograms of salmon roe – from the suspects. In addition to the aquatic resources, inspectors seized four vehicles and 28 pieces of illegal fishing gear.

Efforts to intercept poachers across the regional aquatic ecosystems are being sustained by 14 mobile operational task forces. These active patrols are further supported by a regional network of 23 stationary observation posts.
