Winter conditions have reached the Kamchatka Peninsula, where a recent cyclone deposited a layer of snow across the Valley of Geysers and its surrounding areas within the Kronotsky Nature Reserve. The meteorological event has established early seasonal changes across the protected territory, altering the surface conditions of the terrain.
The accumulation of snow creates a sharp environmental contrast against the active geothermal features of the region. Colorful mud pots, boiling water cauldrons, and steaming volcanic slopes – integral components of this unique geological site – are currently framed by winter precipitation, temporarily transforming the standard landscape of the reserve.
