A thieving ermine visited inspectors of the Kronotsky Nature Reserve in Kamchatka
On Christmas Eve, a forest guest visited the inspectors of the Kronotsky Nature Reserve at the Kronoki cordon on the coast of Olga Bay.
While rangers Joseph Kozyrev and Liana Varavskaya went to get water, ermine managed to slip into the kitchen. When he heard the footsteps of the returning owners, he began to rush around the kitchen table, trying to hide, but not finding a safe haven, he retreated.
This is not to say that the owners were too pleased with the furry guest – this cute animal enjoys a bad reputation among the inspectors, because it can eat anything that is not lying well.
Therefore, on all protected cordons, products are stored where they cannot be reached by nimble representatives of the marten family: ermines, sables, minks, weasels.
In August, an unwanted neighbor appeared near the Kronoki cordon. Whether the ermine came to visit uninvited in winter or another one is not reported.
