The Russian Ministry of Agriculture, at the initiative of the Sakhalin Oblast authorities, has amended the Fishing Rules for the Far Eastern Basin. The daily rate of free pink salmon fishing for amateur fishermen in the Sakhalin region has been increased from three to five specimens.
In Kamchatka, amateur fishermen have also approached the authorities with a similar initiative, but no decision has been made yet. Dmitry Andrusenko, President of the Kamchatka Salmon Amateur Fishing Association, explains this by the difference in conditions between the regions. Kamchatka has more than a hundred sites for amateur fishing, and most of them are located near populated areas, while Sakhalin has only 16 such sites, and almost all of them are remote from towns and villages.
The cost of a permit to catch 20 specimens of pink salmon in Kamchatka is 500 rubles. Prices at different fishing sites differ, which is the subject of disputes between users of fishing sites and amateur fishermen. With the support of the regional Ministry of Fisheries, amateur fishermen have agreed to catch char and smelt for free in winter in certain areas. In addition, some site users do not increase the cost of vouchers for residents of the region.
With the start of the Putin’s season, vouchers to some sites are available for purchase through Public Services 41. Currently, seven companies that provide fishing sites are connected to the service.
