The prosecutor’s office stopped the discharge of sewage into the Avacha River in Kamchatka

In Kamchatka, in Razdolnenskoye rural settlement, a company specializing in wastewater disposal discharges wastewater into the Avacha River without the necessary permits. This is a gross violation of environmental legislation, as the company does not have approved standards for acceptable environmental impact. The lack of documentation threatens the ecological well-being of the river, which is a spawning ground for valuable salmon species and is important for the ecosystem of the region.

The Kamchatka Interdistrict Environmental Prosecutor’s Office, having identified a violation, initiated legal proceedings. The supervisory authority requires the company to conduct all necessary studies, develop and approve the missing regulations governing wastewater discharge. The court supported the prosecutor’s office’s demand, recognizing the company’s actions as illegal.

Now the company is obliged to eliminate all identified violations and bring its activities in line with the requirements of the law. The execution of the court’s decision is under the control of the environmental prosecutor’s office, which guarantees its full execution, the agency says. The measures taken will prevent further pollution of the Avacha River and preserve its unique ecosystem for future generations.
