Kamchatka Deploys Cameras to Combat Illegal Waste Dumping

Property management companies in Kamchatka are intensifying oversight of solid municipal waste collection sites through the deployment of video surveillance systems. KamchatZhKKh has become one of the first management firms in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky to install four surveillance cameras near waste container areas that are particularly susceptible to illegal dumping.

These cameras enable the documentation of regulatory violations, specifically targeting non-residents who unload oversized refuse at localized collection points instead of utilizing designated specialized facilities. Every recorded incident of unauthorized dumping will be systematically investigated and processed.

Construction debris and discarded furniture are not classified as standard municipal solid waste – they are strictly prohibited from being deposited at container sites serving apartment complexes. The municipality is currently addressing a systemic issue with collection areas being overwhelmed by improper materials, including industrial waste, construction debris, felled tree branches, and used vehicle tires.

To mitigate this environmental problem, surveillance equipment has been positioned at the most frequently abused locations. Each documented violation triggers a formal review process – this evidence is subsequently forwarded to the environmental prosecutor’s office to ensure regulatory compliance and accountability.
