The Sea of Life ecological festival is scheduled to take place on September 26 in the city park of Yelizovo, situated along the Polovinka River. The event features a comprehensive environmental education program developed collaboratively by the Kronotsky Nature Reserve, the Volcanoes of Kamchatka Nature Park, and the Nature Defenders Fund.
Visitors of all ages can participate in marine-themed activities and win prizes. The interactive educational games include mystery stones, a memory matching game featuring marine mammals, a marine word search, and a maze based on the South Kamchatka Sanctuary. An online quiz is also available, alongside a large-scale collaborative coloring mural depicting marine life and ocean habitats.
A dedicated marine post office will operate during the festival, allowing attendees to send themed postcards to friends and family. The event also features a mini-exhibition titled Witnesses of the Deep Sea. Displayed artifacts include baleen plates, starfish, traditional glass fishing floats, and the skulls of marine mammals – such as beaked whales, walruses, and sea otters. Official souvenirs from the Kronotsky Nature Reserve will also be available for purchase at the venue.
Representatives from the Volcanoes of Kamchatka network of nature parks will host a souvenir market, a Living Ocean quiz, and an interactive game focused on the secrets of marine inhabitants. Additionally, the Nature Defenders Fund will present its educational program titled Land of the Bear – Rules of Good Neighborhood.
The festival grounds will be marked by a giant inflatable whale, serving as the official symbol of the Sea of Life event. Activities and exhibitions are scheduled to officially commence at 1:00 PM.
