The demand for sightseeing tours to Kamchatka among Russian tourists increased this summer by 5-10% compared to the same period last year due to the development of tourism infrastructure in the region and the popularity of ecotourism, according to the Association of Tour Operators of Russia (ATOR).
“The high season in Kamchatka lasts from July to mid-September. Tourists’ interest in traveling to Kamchatka is stimulated by the general trend towards ecotourism and wildlife observation, active promotion of the destination, as well as the emergence of new infrastructure facilities such as hotels and guest houses. The demand for sightseeing tours to the peninsula in the summer season of 2025 increased by 5-10% compared to last summer,” the association said.
According to tour operators, the program of subsidizing air travel to Kamchatka has become an equally important factor in the growth of demand for trips. Tickets for the upcoming dates are almost impossible to purchase, with flat fares you can travel in early September.
“If there were more tickets available, the demand for tours to the region would be much higher. In August, for a ticket with luggage, you will have to pay at least 53 thousand rubles in both directions for one. And taking into account the rather high cost of ground handling, i.e. sightseeing tours (from 220-300 thousand rubles for 8-10 days for two), a trip to Kamchatka in August will cost 330-400 thousand rubles for two with a flight. This is comparable to the cost of a tour to the Maldives,” the travel companies emphasized.
According to the association, Kamchatka has a small number of rooms, but hotels in the region still have free places for July–August.
“In August, especially in the second half of the month, you can find free rooms in hotels. However, you won’t have to rely on budget options: hotels in the middle and above—average segments are currently available for booking during this period,” the Turkish airlines concluded.
In 2024, Kamchatka was visited by more than 400 thousand tourists. This year, the authorities of the region expect to receive about 450 thousand travelers.
