Kamchatka residents were awarded special prizes for the “My affectionate and necessary Beast” award
The jury of the International Prize Competition in Zelenogradsk noted the heartwarming stories of Kamchatka residents and awarded the nominees the special prize of the “Shaggy Oscar”, Kamchatka.Today reports.
Residents of the Sobolevsky district, who rescued killer whales stuck in shallow water, and the Snow Leopard dog, who fought off the bears at the cost of his health, claimed the “My affectionate and necessary Beast” award in two nominations. The day before, the award ceremony was held in Zelenogradsk. The jury presented Kamchatka residents with special prizes. The ceremony was attended by the head of the Sobolevsky district, Andrei Vorovsky, who shared with the audience his impressions of the rescue of marine animals.
“The rescue operation lasted 3 days. The animals were watered to prevent dehydration. When the killer whales went out to sea, all the people jumped and rejoiced, as if the war was over. I am grateful to the residents of the district, I am grateful to the residents of Kamchatka, because these are people in whom you can be sure,” said Vorovsky.
Residents of the Sobolevsky district, employees of the local GIMS and the Ministry of Emergency Situations, who joined a friendly team and rescued four killer whales doomed to death, received a special prize in the nomination “Responsible for those …”. The Snow Leopard dog was awarded a special prize in the nomination “Our Brothers”. Last fall, the dog rushed to the defense of its owner Vitaly during a walk through the Molodezhny neighborhood. The dog got into an unequal fight with four bears. The owner managed to escape and warn the neighbors about the beast. The wounded but undefeated Snow Leopard stumbled home, and the veterinarians managed to save the dog.
Awarding of the winners of the “Shaggy Oscar” took place for the sixth time. This year, among the applicants, the traditional applicants – selfless dogs and cats – were no less selfless and wise hippopotamus, python and even bats. Four-legged friends, as well as people and organizations that help animals have received recognition.
