The Kamchatka Territory is participating in the national Save the Forest campaign to advance regional ecological restoration. The initiative involves planting over 70,000 Erman’s birch trees alongside approximately 3,000 larch seedlings across the peninsula.
The birch saplings are being sourced from a forestry nursery in the Khabarovsk Territory, while the larch trees are cultivated locally in the Bystrinsky District. Exact planting schedules remain pending and will be finalized following the maritime delivery of the biological materials from the Khabarovsk Territory to Kamchatka.
Annual engagement in this large-scale tree planting operation directly facilitates forest recovery and builds environmental awareness among residents. Expanding these reforestation measures – which include increasing the overall volume of newly planted trees – yields a positive long-term impact on the broader ecological balance of the region.
