Pupils of schools of the regional capital study Kamchatka as part of the training course
The course “My Kamchatka is a protected area” was introduced into the curriculum of grades 2-8 of all Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky schools. Children are introduced to the world of animals and plants in the region, volcanic landscapes, unique natural phenomena and the activities of people who care about the preservation of all this, Kamchatka.Today reports, citing a message from the city administration’s Education Department.
“Even during the summer holidays, teachers continue to conduct environmental classes for schoolchildren. So, in secondary school No. 8 of the regional center, for pupils of the second shift of the school camp – students of the second and third grades – a training “Journey through Kamchatka” was conducted. The event helped the children to get to know the unique natural characteristics of Kamchatka and its ecosystem better. They actively discussed which animals live in the region and shared their knowledge. Involvement in creative tasks contributed to the development of their interest in the topic,” the message says.
According to the authors of the course, such activities broaden the horizons, form a careful attitude of children towards nature, helping them realize the importance of its preservation for future generations.
