The activity of the Bezymianny volcano in Kamchatka is increasing

Increased seismic activity and thermal anomalies are recorded on the Bezymianny volcano in the east of Kamchatka. This was reported to TASS by the Kamchatka branch of the Geophysical Service of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

“The activity of the volcano is increasing, 153 seismic events have occurred in the Bezymianny area over the past day alone. At night, there is the glow of the dome and the continuous descent of powerful red—hot debris avalanches along the eastern slope of the volcano,” the institution said.

They added that the satellites are detecting a thermal anomaly. Ash emissions up to an altitude of 15 km can begin at any time.

The Bezymianny volcano is located 40 km from the village of Klyuchi in the Ust-Kamchatsky district. Its height is about 3 km. It last erupted in July 2024.
