Over 13,000 Trees Planted in Kamchatka Forest Restoration

Over 13,000 Erman’s birch seedlings, alongside 39 rowans, 16 spruces, 10 pines, and seven apple trees, have been planted in the Kamchatka region as part of the Save the Forest national campaign. Approximately 200 participants joined the reforestation efforts, distributing the young trees across the Yelizovsky, Milkovsky, Ust-Kamchatsky, and Sobolevsky districts.

The initiative will expand in October with large-scale planting operations scheduled for the Milkovsky district. Forestry workers and volunteers plan to plant more than 55,000 Erman’s birch and larch seedlings during this upcoming phase.

The Kamchatka region participates in two major environmental initiatives annually. The first is the Garden of Memory campaign – a global effort to plant over 20 million trees in honor of fallen soldiers from World War II. The second is the autumn Save the Forest campaign, which aims to plant a total of approximately 70,000 Erman’s birch and larch seedlings across the peninsula this year.

Individuals wishing to join the environmental restoration efforts can register through the official campaign website. All necessary equipment and planting materials are provided to participants on-site by the organizing authorities.
