In Kamchatka, ash from the Shiveluch volcano rose to a height of 2.5 km

The rise of ash to a height of 2.5 km was recorded on the Kamchatka volcano Shiveluch, according to the Kamchatka Volcanic Eruption Response Group.

“KVERT video and satellite data show that strong winds are lifting ash from the southern slopes of the Sheveluch volcano, with a plume of suspended ash extending about 40 km east-southeast of the volcano. The height of the volcanic cloud is 2000-2500 m above sea level,” the report says.

The volcano has been assigned an orange aviation hazard code. This means that its activity is dangerous for the operation of low-flying aircraft engines.

Shiveluch is an active volcano in Kamchatka, its age is 60-70 thousand years. It consists of the Old Shiveluch volcano, the ancient caldera and the active Young Shiveluch volcano. The volcano is located at a distance of about 50 km from the village of Klyuchi in the Ust-Kamchatsky district and 450 km from Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky.
