In Kamchatka, people saved a calf from certain death in the teeth of a bear

A touching rescue story has unfolded in the Bystrinsky district of Kamchatka. Local resident Vladimir Adukanov noticed a tiny moose on the road between the villages, which could not even stand on its feet, the Kamchatka Segodnya portal reports with reference to the Kamchatka Life telegram channel.

The man was waiting for the moose mother to appear, but the baby continued to lie alone.  When Adukanov decided to take the calf, a bear went to the place where the helpless cub was lying.

Vladimir delivered the cub to the Menedek Ethnocultural center in the village of Anavar. Here, the baby, who was named Found, was welcomed by the whole world. For the first few days, the staff of the center carried her in their arms, gave her cow’s milk and did not leave a single step.

“Now she is stronger, she runs around the territory, tries to graze the grass and even lets herself be petted,” says Lilia Banakanova, director of the center. “People come to us from neighboring Esso specifically to see our star.”

But this story may have a sad ending. According to the law, it is forbidden to keep a wild animal in the center. In the fall, the grown-up moose is planned to be released into the protected areas of the Bystrinsky district, where there are few bears. The hunters promised to keep an eye on Naydena, but whether she will be able to adapt to wild life is a big question.

In the meantime, the residents of Kamchatka continue to pamper their pet, and her story has become a real lesson in humanity and caring for nature.
