During the past week, fishery enforcement officers in the Kamchatka region apprehended 77 individuals for illegal fishing activities across local water bodies. Authorities seized a total of 498 kilograms of illegally caught salmon, which included 130 kilograms of illicitly harvested caviar. In addition to the aquatic resources, officials confiscated 17 vehicles and 59 pieces of fishing gear used in the operations.
The ongoing enforcement efforts against illegal fishing in the region currently involve 18 active operational groups patrolling the waterways – working in coordination with 27 established stationary checkpoints – to monitor and protect the local aquatic ecosystem.
