Kamchatka Fishery Inspectors Intercept Salmon Poaching Operations

Fishery inspectors intercepted multiple poaching operations in Kamchatka during the final week of July.

On the Plotnikova River, an individual illegally caught seven sockeye salmon. Another poacher extracted six sockeye salmon from the Kamchatka River. Meanwhile, a violator on the Avacha River harvested thirteen chum salmon and two sockeye salmon.

Authorities transferred the documentation from all three incidents to the police to initiate criminal proceedings under Article 256 of the Criminal Code. Law enforcement confiscated the fishing equipment – including boats, a motor, and nets – and placed the items in secure storage.
