Inspectors from the Federal Agency for Fishery and the Bolshaya River Association detained two illegal fishermen catching sockeye salmon on the western coast of Kamchatka.
The individuals were apprehended with a UAZ vehicle on the Plotnikova River near the 66th kilometer of the Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky – Ust-Bolsheretsk highway. The two men were operating a motorized rubber boat and using a fishing net. Prior to the arrival of the inspectors, they had illegally extracted seven sockeye salmon.
Authorities seized the vehicle, boat, net, and the poached fish, placing all items in secure storage. The case materials have been forwarded to the police to initiate criminal proceedings.
