In Kamchatka, catch quotas have been determined for representatives of indigenous minorities

Catch quotas for whitefish and other aquatic biological resources have been determined for 2025 for representatives of indigenous minorities living in the Kamchatka Territory.

As Pavel Buryak, assistant of the fisheries department of the Ministry of Fisheries of the Kamchatka Territory, said, for traditional fishing for 2025, quotas have been determined for catching about 960 tons of aquatic biological resources — cod, pollock, navaga, flounder, halibut, sea bass and greenling, as well as 120 fur seals.

Both individuals and tribal communities, determined by order of the regional Ministry of Fisheries, have the right to carry out traditional fishing in relation to these types of biological resources.

Indigenous peoples planning to exercise the right to traditional fishing must submit an application for the provision of aquatic biological resources for use for traditional fishing to the North-Eastern Territorial Administration of Rosrybolovstvo before September 1 of the year preceding the year of fishing.

Applicants for public services for the provision of aquatic biological resources for the use of traditional fishing can be persons belonging to the following nationalities: Aleuts, Alyutors, Itelmens, Kamchadals, Koryaks, Chukchi, Evens and Eskimos (living in the Kamchatka Territory).
