Kamchatka Launches Autumn Car Tire Recycling Drive

The annual autumn campaign for recycling used car tires began in the Kamchatka region on October 12. The environmental initiative aims to collect approximately 40,000 tires from local residents. Unlike the program’s inaugural year when collection limits were exhausted rapidly, the current process is proceeding at a steady pace with individuals primarily submitting tires after personal use.

Participants receive 50 rubles and 50 bonus points in the regional social system for each passenger car tire submitted. A valid passport is required to process the monetary compensation. The collection centers prioritize individuals returning 15 or fewer tires by offering them expedited service without queuing. The program accommodates all volumes of returns – from drivers disposing of a single seasonal set to individuals delivering truckloads of accumulated tires.

The collection points are located at 1 Tundrovaya Street in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky and 20/1 Molodezhnaya Street in the Novy settlement of the Yelizovsky district. Operating hours are scheduled for weekdays from 09:00 to 18:00, with a designated break from 13:00 to 14:00, and on Saturdays from 10:00 to 13:00. The facilities remain closed on Sundays. The initiative will operate continuously until the target quota is fully met.

During the previous year’s collection drives, residents recycled approximately 110,000 tires – over 67,000 units in the spring and nearly 43,000 in the autumn. Through these waste management campaigns, participants collectively earned around 5.5 million rubles while supporting local environmental efforts.
