Federal fishery inspectors have detained two individuals engaged in illegal fishing on Lake Dalneye in Vilyuchinsk. The suspects managed to harvest 22 sockeye salmon, resulting in environmental damage exceeding 500,000 rubles. Authorities confiscated the boats, fishing nets, and the illegally obtained salmon. All case materials have been transferred to the police to determine whether criminal charges will be filed for the illegal extraction of aquatic biological resources.
Although the salmon fishing season officially closed on September 12, mobile teams of fishery inspectors are continuing their round-the-clock patrols along the spawning rivers. Strict financial penalties remain in place for poaching in the Kamchatka region – fines are calculated per illegally caught fish regardless of size or weight. The penalty for a single sockeye salmon is set at 11,575 rubles, while other fines apply accordingly: chinook and coho salmon – 10,635 rubles, chum salmon – 2,009 rubles, pink salmon – 961 rubles, and char – 925 rubles. Additionally, the compensation rate for environmental damage caused by extracting red caviar is established at 27,455 rubles per kilogram.
