Twenty environmental volunteers – representing seven Russian regions – have completed a specialized training program in the Kamchatka Peninsula designed to prepare teams for responding to natural ecological emergencies. The initiative was organized by the Ecosystem movement as part of a targeted project, integrating both theoretical coursework and practical field exercises.
Participants traveled from Kamchatka, Moscow, and the Kursk, Tambov, Belgorod, Saratov, and Moscow regions to acquire professional emergency response skills. The training culminated in practical exercises on the coast of Khalaktyrsky Beach, where the volunteers simulated the containment and management of a natural wildfire.
Alongside the disaster response drills, the groups conducted conservation work to protect the local ecosystem. The teams installed over 150 barrier posts along the beach to prevent unauthorized vehicles from driving onto the fragile coastal terrain. Furthermore, they erected informational boards detailing the regulations of the designated water protection zone – a practical measure intended to ensure long-term environmental compliance.
