Recreational salmon fishing regulations on the Avacha River have been adjusted due to unstable fish runs and complex hydrological conditions. At fishing section No. 766 of the North-Eastern branch of Glavrybvod, additional permits with a reduced catch limit have been introduced.
Kamchatka anglers can now purchase a license to harvest five chum salmon or ten pink salmon. The cost of this document has decreased in proportion to the permitted catch volume. The previous permits – which allow for ten chum and twenty pink salmon – remain available for purchase.
The changes were implemented following numerous requests from local residents. During periods when the water level in the Avacha River rises and Pacific salmon schools enter the river in small numbers, catching two dozen fish in a single outing is practically impossible. Fishers were previously forced to overpay for quotas they could not fulfill in practice.
The Kamchatka Territory Ministry of Fisheries endorsed the adjustment to create more flexible conditions and maintain the accessibility of traditional fishing in the region.
Catch permits under the updated regulations can be obtained in advance through the Kamchatka Territory public services portal. These licenses are also sold directly on the riverbank by site instructors.
