Water tests conducted at Khalaktyrskoye Lake in Kamchatka have revealed toxic element concentrations exceeding permissible limits. The analysis was carried out by the regional laboratory of the National Fish Quality and Safety Center under the Russian Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance.
The research was conducted as part of an ongoing environmental and veterinary safety monitoring program for aquatic biological resource harvesting areas. Samples of lake water and bottom silt deposits were collected within the Petropavlovsk-Commander fishing subzone at the Khalaktyrka site.
Laboratory examinations demonstrated a significant excess of the maximum allowable concentrations for several toxic elements, specifically iron, manganese, copper, and selenium. The analytical results have been officially recorded in the national veterinary information system – Vesta.
This environmental finding follows previous tests conducted by the same regional laboratory, which detected hazardous concentrations of arsenic in Kamchatka whitefish.
