The investigation, jointly conducted by the Kamchatka Interdistrict Environmental Prosecutor’s Office and the regional Ministry of Natural Resources, uncovered a significant unauthorized quarrying operation near Gastello Street in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky. It was revealed that the commercial entity had illegally extracted over 13,000 cubic meters of sand-gravel mixture without the requisite permits, causing considerable environmental disruption and violating federal subsurface resource management laws.
Following a comprehensive inquiry into the illicit activities, the prosecutor’s office initiated legal proceedings to recover damages for the environmental harm inflicted. A subsequent court ruling found the businessman liable, ordering the payment of more than 5.7 million rubles.
