The staff of the national park on Komandory was shocked by a “Chinese tourist”
An extremely unexpected specimen has been added to the entomological collection of the Commander Islands National Park, an environmental protection agency told Kamchatka.Today.
Last weekend, an individual Amur snake owl (Eudocima tyrannus) was discovered on Bering Island.
“Imagine the shock you feel when you see an almost 10-centimeter moth on the north island, for which the territories of China and India are the usual habitat,” the staff of the national park shared their deep impressions.
This is the first registration of such a moth on the Commander Islands, and now scientists will have to try to understand how this insect ended up in the archipelago.
