Exercises to “neutralize” bears that came out to people were held in Kamchatka

Exercises on rapid response to bear escapes to populated areas of the region were held in Kamchatka, the regional Ministry of Forestry and Hunting reports.

Emergency services have worked out the interaction and speed of response to a conditional “call from a concerned resident.” During the exercise, task forces went to the place of “detection” of predators, notified a citizen who reported a wild animal, and also “neutralized” the threat to the life and health of the population.

The minimum time for the arrival of aid in the city was 22 minutes.

“Based on the results, an analysis will be carried out, and all the shortcomings that were revealed during the exercises will be eliminated. We will analyze how our colleagues worked, and how well they gave conditional feedback to the citizens who informed us about this situation. We will see how competently and timely our colleagues acted on the disposal of predators, and we will also finalize the system for the disposal of predator carcasses if, unfortunately, we have to shoot the predator,” said Dmitry Shchipitsyn, Minister of Forestry and Hunting of the Kamchatka Territory.

He reminded that in an emergency, you should call 112.
