Residents of the village of Nikolskoye in Kamchatka were cut off from the mainland. For more than two weeks now, food has not been delivered to the locality.
The last delivery of products to Nikolskoye was on December 10.
«A plane or helicopter cannot take off for two weeks; the last time the ship was on November 15th. The flight will not operate in December due to weather. There are no vegetables, fruits, or eggs in Nikolskoye. No food to prepare traditional New Year’s salads. There is no mail, and there the village residents ordered gifts for the children», – was told by a village resident to IA «Kam 24».
The cause of the interruptions was bad weather, which makes it impossible for aviation to operate. And although there is a supply of necessary products in the village, unfortunately, it is not endless. According to estimates by the regional Ministry of Economy, on December 12 there were 13 tons of food in the village. A week later, on December 19, – is already 10 tons.
«People bought up the leftover potatoes, onions, carrots, apples and so on in a matter of days. The situation is the same with sausage products, there are no eggs, they ended two weeks ago. The rest is available: cereals, canned food, meat, chicken, cheeses, milk, flour, semi-finished products, frozen vegetables and other», – said Deputy of the Aleutian District Duma Anastasia Manko.
People are hoping for Thursday. According to the regional government, on December 26, the weather is forecast to allow a flight to the village. The plane plans to deliver about 300 kilograms of cargo. Maritime traffic is still in doubt, with another cyclone expected by Friday evening and over the weekend, with strong winds and precipitation. According to the regional Ministry of Transport, the next delivery by ship will be in early January.
