Kamchatka resident faces up to two years in prison for catching 10 salmon tails
The investigation of the case of a 41-year-old resident of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, accused of poaching salmon (Part 1 of Article 256 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation), has been completed, the KAMCHATKA-INFORM agency was informed by the Kamchatka Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia on transport.
The sanction of the article provides for up to two years in prison.
The department said that the man was illegally fishing in Malaya Lagernaya Bay in the suburbs of the regional center.
“Using nets, he caught 10 specimens of Pacific salmon in their spawning grounds: pink salmon, chum salmon and sockeye salmon. The damage to the state amounted to about 70 thousand rubles,” the police said.
The criminal case has been sent to the Transport Prosecutor’s Office for approval of the indictment and subsequent transfer to the court.
