The autumn campaign for collecting used car tires from the public is underway in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky and the Yelizovo district. Since October 12, residents have already turned in approximately 32,000 tires, approaching the initially planned target of 40,000. During the same period last year, only about 14,000 tires were collected.
In response to this high participation rate, regional authorities have increased the collection limit by fifty percent – raising the cap to 61,000 tires. This adjustment aims to ensure that a larger volume of automotive rubber is sent for recycling while allowing more residents to participate in the environmental initiative.
Collection points are operating at two locations: 1 Tundrovaya Street in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky and 20/1 Molodezhnaya Street in the settlement of Novy within the Yelizovo district. The facilities accept used tires on weekdays from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. – with a break between 1:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. – and on Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. without a break. The sites are closed on Sundays.
For each tire submitted, motorists receive 50 rubles along with 50 bonus points in the regional social loyalty system. Participants must present a passport, and only passenger car tires are accepted. Individuals returning up to 15 tires are processed in a priority queue.
During the paid collection campaigns last year, motorists handed in around 110,000 tires for recycling, comprising over 67,000 in the spring and nearly 43,000 in the autumn. In total, residents earned approximately 5.5 million rubles through this environmental program.
