Construction of the coastal infrastructure of a regasification complex for transshipment of liquefied natural gas has begun in Kamchatka. As part of this work, the arrangement of berths, bank protection, construction of industrial premises, engineering and technical means for receiving regasified LNG, as well as a site and devices for loading LNG into cryo-gas carriers, and a gas pipeline from the berth to the point of insertion into the existing gas transportation network will be carried out.
According to the head of the Regional Energy Development Center, Svetlana Filippova, the construction of a regasification complex will resolve the issue of the shortage of local natural gas for Kamchatka thermal power plants, as well as gasify settlements not connected to the gas transportation system and located in close proximity to highways.
«The LNG regasification complex includes two parts – sea and shore. The offshore part — is a directly floating regasification unit, which is a tanker-type offshore vessel for storing and regasifying LNG. It is used as a stationary facility moored at a specially equipped pier. LNG will be delivered to this installation by two shuttle gas carriers from Sakhalin. The construction of the offshore part is carried out by the forces and means of PJSC «NOVATEK». According to their information, contracts for the construction of ships have already been concluded with an end date of 2026. The second part of the – coastal infrastructure complex. Its construction is the – area of responsibility of the government of the Kamchatka Territory. In November of this year, a state contract was concluded with LLC “Zapsibgazprom-Gazification” for construction, the state customer is the Ministry of Housing and Communal Services and Energy of the Kamchatka Territory. The contract price is just over 13 billion rubles, 12 of which are — subsidies from the federal budget», — reported Svetlana Filippova.
The timing of the construction of coastal infrastructure is synchronized with the construction of facilities in the offshore part of the complex. The launch of regasified LNG into the gas transportation network is expected in 2026.
