Russian fisheries inspectors recently apprehended 49 individuals suspected of poaching in the region’s rich waters within a single week, underscoring Moscow’s renewed focus on protecting its valuable aquatic resources.
According to the Federal Agency for Fishery (Rosrybolovstvo), its personnel conducted extensive raids between February 9 and 16. These operations led to the seizure of 6.8 kilograms of illegally obtained fish and four pieces of illicit fishing gear. Administrative cases have been initiated against all apprehended individuals, signaling a firm stance against environmental violations that threaten the region’s biodiversity.
Rosrybolovstvo’s North-East Territorial Department confirmed the comprehensive nature of these operations, which involved 11 dedicated operational groups and a permanent stationary post strategically positioned to monitor critical fishing grounds.
