Russia’s Far East to Lure Global Tourists with Four-Star Glamping Hub

Kamchatka Krai, Russia’s breathtaking Far Eastern peninsula renowned for its volcanoes, geysers, and pristine wilderness, is set to significantly boost its tourism offerings with the opening of a new year-round glamping resort. Named “Expedition-Kamchatka,” this ambitious project is slated for completion by 2027 and aims to accommodate up to 186 guests simultaneously, positioning the region as a premier destination for eco-conscious and adventure-seeking international travelers.

The development, receiving substantial backing under Russia’s “Tourism and Hospitality” state program, underscores a strategic national push to enhance tourism infrastructure in remote yet ecologically rich territories. A cornerstone of the “Expedition-Kamchatka” experience will be its state-of-the-art thermal complex, featuring an inviting open-air swimming pool and meticulously designed recreational zones, offering guests unparalleled opportunities for relaxation amidst Kamchatka’s dramatic natural backdrop.

Construction is proceeding in two distinct phases. The initial stage, projected for completion in 2026, will see the establishment of thirty modular homes, each capable of hosting up to six individuals. This phase also includes the launch of a sophisticated restaurant complete with an open-air veranda, a dedicated conference center catering to corporate and event tourism, and an extensive thermal spa complex complemented by traditional Russian banyas. Guests will additionally benefit from a panoramic observation deck and various communal areas thoughtfully integrated into the surrounding landscape, ensuring minimal environmental footprint.

The second phase, scheduled for 2027, will further expand the resort’s capacity with the addition of a 20-room modular hotel and a larger, supplementary guest house. A critical aspect of the project’s design ethos is inclusivity; a significant portion of the accommodation units and public spaces will be specifically outfitted to ensure comfort and ease of movement for guests with reduced mobility, reflecting a modern approach to universal accessibility in premium tourism.

Upon full operational status, “Expedition-Kamchatka” is expected to deliver a four-star level of service, blending luxurious comfort with an authentic wilderness experience. Project developers emphasize that this initiative is not merely about expanding lodging options but is a strategic move to elevate the quality of recreation and wellness offerings for both domestic visitors and, critically, a growing influx of international tourists keen to explore Russia’s untamed natural wonders. This development highlights Russia’s commitment to developing its vast, pristine regions for global engagement through sustainable tourism.
