In the south of the peninsula, a forest predator was rescued, a lynx fell into a multi–day trap – dogs were not allowed to descend from a tree, the KAMCHATKA-INFORM RAI reported in the Volcanoes of Kamchatka network of natural parks.

A successful lynx rescue operation took place in the Vilyuchinsky Nature Park. The animal was rescued by inspectors of the Volcanoes of Kamchatka network of natural parks together with employees of the regional Ministry of Forestry and Hunting during a joint patrol.

“On the route to Lake Topolovoe, the chief expert of the Ministry of Forestry noticed a small pack of dogs. Suspecting that they might be chasing game, he headed for their gathering place. As a result of the inspection, he found that the animals had driven the lynx up a tree. Presumably, the dogs had been guarding the predator for several days,” representatives of the specially protected natural site said.

The Volcanoes of Kamchatka network of natural parks said that the inspectors, along with an employee of the Ministry of Forestry, scared off the dogs, after which the lynx was finally able to escape into the forest.
