Fishing company in Kamchatka was convicted of illegal salmon fishing for 90 million rubles
Kuril Fishing Company LLC was found guilty of violating fishing regulations. The company will pay a fine. The damage compensation case will be considered separately, the Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky City Court told Kamchatka.Today.
It was established that from July 27 to July 30 last year, the company’s fishermen extracted 372 kg of pink salmon, over 12.3 tons of chum salmon and 17.4 tons of sockeye salmon outside the established fishing areas. Inaccurate information about the actual salmon fishing area was provided to the regulatory authorities.
The damage to the natural resources of the Russian Federation exceeded 93.5 million rubles.
The representative of the company disagreed with the claims, saying that the check by the border guards was carried out with violations and its conclusions could not serve as evidence. However, he could not substantiate his statement.
The court found the company guilty under Part 2 of Article 8.17 of the Administrative Code of the Russian Federation (violation of the rules and requirements governing fishing) and fined 3 million rubles.
In addition, the fish and products made from it will be seized free of charge and turned into state property. The LLC will also pay 82 thousand for conducting various examinations.
Since the company did not agree with the claimed damage of 93.5 million rubles, the issue will be considered in a different court order.
The court’s decision has not entered into legal force and can be appealed.
