Kamchatka foresters received two unmanned aerial vehicles for fire reconnaissance within a 10-kilometer radius, the regional Ministry of Forestry and Hunting told Kamchatka.Today.
The unmanned aircraft systems of the domestic Geoscan-801 model are designed for operational video monitoring and fire reconnaissance at any time of the day and in limited and difficult weather conditions.
The devices can stay in the air for up to 40 minutes. The drone rises to a height of up to 4 km, with a maximum flight speed of up to 50 km/h.
“The introduction of unmanned aerial vehicles increases the effectiveness of forest fire control through early detection of fires,” said Sergey Popov, Deputy Director of the Kamchatka Forest Protection State Agricultural Academy.
The Kronotsky Nature Reserve has acquired quadrocopters to study animal life.
