More than 50 employees of Kamchatskenergo took part in the annual environmental campaign “Protect”, the company’s press service reports.

The purpose of the event was to clean the coastline of Lake Khalaktyrsky, near which Kamchatka CHPP-2 is located.

During the clean-up, the power engineers collected and prepared over 100 bags of household waste for export. The bulk of the waste was made up of plastic bottles, bags, glass containers and other debris. All the collected garbage was promptly taken to a specialized landfill by the forces and equipment of Kamchatskenergo.

The “Protect” campaign is traditionally timed to coincide with World Environment Day, which is celebrated on June 5, and the Year of Ecology, announced by the RusHydro Group. This event is an important part of the company’s environmental policy, which is aimed at minimizing the impact on nature in the regions where it operates and fostering respect for the environment among employees and the public.

“Cleaning the shores of reservoirs, especially such significant ones as Lake Khalaktyrskoye, is not just a clean–up, it is a contribution to the future of our region,” said Vladislav Skvortsov, Chief Engineer of Kamchatskenergo. – We are glad that the “Protect” campaign unites our employees in an effort to keep Kamchatka’s unique nature clean. Responsible attitude to the environment is an integral part of our corporate culture.”
