The Volcanoes of Kamchatka nature park network has concluded its summer tourist season on the peninsula. Visitor access to most protected areas is temporarily suspended due to the onset of the autumn transition period. The sole exception is Vilyuchinsky Park – it currently continues to welcome guests.
These annual restrictions are tied to changing landscape conditions. Soil becomes unstable during this period due to precipitation and temperature fluctuations, meaning foot traffic and the use of machinery can cause soil erosion and damage to vegetation. The temporary closure of these territories serves to minimize anthropogenic pressure on local ecosystems.
Park administration advises visitors to account for these seasonal adjustments when planning their trips. Access to the recreational areas will resume once a stable snow cover has formed. A dense layer of snow will allow winter tourism to proceed without inflicting direct mechanical impact on the soil.
