A court has ordered the regional water utility Kamchatka Vodokanal to pay 1.9 million rubles for violating environmental legislation regarding the protection of water bodies. The lawsuit was initiated by the environmental prosecutor’s office following an assessment of the facility’s waste management practices.
Laboratory analysis of samples taken from the utility’s wastewater discharge points revealed pollutant concentrations exceeding permissible legal limits. The total environmental damage caused by the contaminated runoff was assessed at 1.9 million rubles – a penalty the enterprise is now legally obligated to remit, as the court ruling has officially entered into force.
