The Ministry of Natural Resources is investigating a demolition contractor operating in the Kamchatka village of Milkovo following reports of environmental violations. The environmental prosecutor’s office initiated the probe after receiving intelligence that the company was burying construction waste directly at the demolition site.
A field inspection conducted by environmental specialists has not yet conclusively confirmed or refuted the illegal waste disposal allegations. However, inspectors found the entire work site covered in a continuous layer of construction debris. The preliminary assessment identified several other infractions – encompassing both environmental protection and building dismantling regulations – that occurred during the demolition process.
Authorities will continue to strictly monitor the contractor’s performance throughout the remainder of the project. If necessary, investigators will deploy underground inspection tools to locate any recently buried waste materials beneath the site surface.
