An educational session took place at the base of the Kozelsky volcano, where students engaged in fieldwork amidst volcanic landscapes instead of a traditional classroom environment. Specialists from the Volcanoes of Kamchatka nature park network introduced the participants to the local environment.
The curriculum covered daily operations within specially protected natural areas, focusing on ongoing research, conservation efforts, and public education initiatives. The program provided students with practical exposure to potential career paths as environmental volunteers, researchers, ecologists, and conservation specialists.
This outdoor lecture was organized as part of the Geography UNlesson federal project – an initiative designed to shift educational methods away from standard maps and textbooks. Direct engagement with the environment allows participants to observe and investigate the ecosystems of the peninsula through applied fieldwork.
