Kamchatka Hosts Annual Salmon Conservation and Fishing Festival

The regional festival Let’s Save Salmon Together took place in the Ust-Bolsheretsky district last weekend, gathering hundreds of participants and guests from Kamchatka and other regions of the country. The main event of the festival was the Kamchatka Territory Sport Fishing Championship held in memory of Andrey Pyatko – a figure who made significant contributions to the fishing culture of the region.

Dmitry Senokopov from Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky won the championship with a total catch weight exceeding 5.2 kilograms. He also received the award for the largest fish, having caught a single specimen weighing 4 kilograms.

The event also featured the Kamchatka Children and Youth Sport Fishing Festival, where Yaroslav Smirnykh from Vilyuchinsk secured first place. Special recognition was given to younger participants, with seven-year-old Felix Voevodsky from Petropavlovsk named the youngest fisherman of the festival, while ten-year-old Taisiya Ivanova from Yelizovo received the prize for the best beginner female angler.
